Well it’s July and that can mean only one thing, it’s PITT Open week! Just like the temperatures, we hope to see registration continue to rise and reach triple digits (players not degrees lol) for this weekend. We think you will receive the same quality treatment as in years past so don’t hesitate to plan on attending this event. First I would like to thank Disc Golf Monkey, City of Pittsburg Parks and Rec, Crawford County Convention Bureau, Kansasland, Bourbon Street, Pittsburg USD 250, Comfort Inn, Marrone’s, Broadway Productions, PITT Disc Golf Club and Chris Dettling for their involvement to make this a top quality event.
The Pitt Open is a B-tier with $500 added cash!! The first 100 am’s registered will receive the customary Disc Golf Monkey players pack of a disc and a shirt (first come first serve). We will utilize two courses this year with Schlanger Park and a temp course just a few blocks away at Pittsburg High School. The festivities will kick off this Friday with a doubles tournament at Schlanger Park with $200 added to payout!!! I will also be giving away one free night stay vouchers to Comfort Inn and Holiday Inn (subject to availability) to the Open and Am division winners. We will have a flex start from 2-6 pm and if you absolutely need to play earlier then please contact Kevin at 620-249-8747 and I’ll arrange a time to walk the course with your group if need be. If you can’t make it to doubles and will arrive sometime that evening then please come out and join us at Bourbon Street (518 N Broadway) Friday night to get registered and pick up players packs. The less the tournament staff has to do Saturday morning to prevent any delays is greatly appreciated. Register at discgolfmonkey.com as his events fill up fast if you want a players pack. If you think you are the best putter in the Four States then PROVE IT by signing up in the first ever Pitt Open Putting Competition. We will have qualifying on Friday and Saturday with the Finals Saturday night at the Players Party.
On Saturday we will have late registration and a Players Meeting at Schlanger Park. Registration will end by 9am with a players meeting scheduled at 9:30am. Round 1 will begin at 10am with Open & Adv playing PHS first and all other divisions playing Schlanger first. After the first round lunch will be provided at Schlanger Park by Kansasland. After lunch the second round will begin with divisions swapping courses. Once Round 2 is complete we will have our Players Party at Bourbon Street with discounted food vouchers provided in your players pack. The Players Party will consist of stories about all the missed birdie chances (lol), EDGE raffle and Putting Competition Finals. Bourbon Street could possibly have live entertainment that night for your pleasure so be sure to come out and enjoy the fun.
Sunday will cap off the weekend with the Final round beginning at 10am. You will play the same course on Sunday that you played during the first round on Saturday. After Round 3 everyone will meet at Schlanger Park for any tie breaking playoffs for first place in all divisions. We will have a Ring of Fire and then Awards.
Please be sure to utilize our hotel discounts at Comfort Inn and Holiday Inn by requesting the Pitt Open rate when you call in. You must call the local number and not the 800 number to receive the discount. There are other hotels in town as well and even some with PDGA discounts available if you choose to stay there.
