Jared Hilton Memorial Recap - Jun 15th, 2023
Missouri Eagle and Elephant & Castle’s 13th Annual Jared Hilton Memorial Recap
This past Saturday 142 players met up in Lebanon’s Atchley Park to pay tribute to Brad Hilton’s son Jared. The Jared Hilton Memorial means a lot to many, but none more than Brad. He makes sure that everyone who comes has the best time possible. On behalf of Brad and his family, thank you for continuing to play this event.
An impressive $1,500+ was raised that Brad will team with EDGE to install a course somewhere in the area as he did in Conway. If you didn’t attend, the way this money was raised is through one of the most incredible raffles ever. 4 baskets, 20+bags, stools, umbrellas, and so much more. Nearly everything is donated by Brad that is supplied by his year long winnings! Thanks again for all the generosity!
Surprisingly the weather was much better than the local doom and gloom forecast that was given by our local meteorologists. I know of a few who didn’t play because of the threat of bad weather, and it was on the back of everyone’s minds. Thankfully we had some wind and mostly overcast, but the rains stayed away. If memory serves (and don’t count on that), this was the coolest temperature JHM to date.
The first round started right on time with the horn sounding at 9:00 a.m. We used both courses and both pools played quickly. Chris and Pamela, cooked hot dogs and hamburgers for everyone. This kept most close to the courses. It was great seeing everyone together telling stories and catching up. It was like a large family reunion brought to you by Brad Hilton and his Crew.
The 2nd round actually started earlier than expected because of the combined quick 1st round and having food on site. Big thanks to Chris and Pam for that. The 2nd round took about the same amount of time to play. The Monkey crew tallied, scored, and printed out vouchers as soon as the last card came in. The Am Payout and raffle took place simultaneously. The big ticket winner of the Monkey Trap paid for by the Lebanon Parks and Rec was Will Jones.
I want to thank everyone who went out to get sponsors. Along with our regulars: Brad, Dan, Brandy, Pamela, and Rollin, I want to say a special thanks to a good friend, Loriell Calton for her surprising 5 sponsors! She’s not a disc golfer, but she likes what we do in her home town! To our “Big Three” we can’t thank you enough: Missouri Eagle , Elephant & Castle (Doug Bowen), and Lebanon’s Park & Recreation (John Shelton). Thank you for many years of making this one of the best events on the DGM Tour. To all of our local sponsors listed below, you are all appreciated:
