Jungle Run Tour Points Series Recap & Winners

The 2023 DGM Tour brought an experimental point challenge that proved to be fun and it functioned well. The Ford family and several others, asked that some kind of points system be implemented for the tour. This added push, helped me reach back out to Scott Elam, PDGA #53939, who came up with the points system. Scott resides in North Carolina, where he is very involved in the disc golf scene. We had talked about it a couple of years back, and he actually had the time and was eager to put it all into action. He worked countless hours on the spreadsheets and compiling all the data after each event. I want to give a big shout of thanks on behalf of all the players for making this a success. We appreciate all the effort Scott!

This year was an experimental test year as mentioned. After our initial review of the data and results: Scott Elam, Kevin Carder, and I believe it worked well. The points, amount of tournaments that must be played, and having to play one event from 3 of the 4 regions proved to work well. This year the first 3 players in each division will be getting a sweet metal bag tag that was promised at the beginning of the year. The 2nd & 3rd place tags were made by Kyle Potter, owner of Lazer Lab Creations (www.lazerlabcreations.com and @lazerlabcreations). These were made of stainless and bronze. The first place tag were made out of pure silver casted by Jeff Ford,
Owner of Parriot’s Gold & Silver! These are sweet and are definitely worth some bragging
rights. The first 3 places will also receive prizes along with the tags. 1st place had the option of a Lite Basket (DD, MVP, Discmania, or Innova) or a $150 gift card. The 2nd and third place will get Jungle Run Tour Discs and apparel.

In 2024 we will be doing the point challenge championship again. We plan on making it more exciting by recapping more often, raising funds for bigger & better purses, and hopefully being able to pay further into the field.
